Welcome to Downfield Farm, Scottish abattoir and producers of Stagison Venison. A reputable, humane abattoir and Scotland’s only field to fork venison farm, handling and processing plant. Established in the Spring of 2016, our family-run farm is herding in a new dawn for meat processing and deer farming.

In addition to our venison processing plant, we also offer private meat processing on the Downfield Farm for your Deer, Sheep and Goats and a butchery service too.

Our Abattoir Process


Our Animal Processing Plant 

All private sheep, goat and deer processing takes place on Tuesdays. We require all animals to be delivered to the lairage by the preceding Monday afternoon to allow us to settle your herd and cover all formalities.

Weekend deliveries can also be arranged with our team. All animals must be clean, dry, accompanied by a completed food chain form and have the appropriate identification as per the Meat Hygiene Service: Cleanliness classification of livestock, category 1 + 2.
